L365: Mohanlal-Tharun Moorthy film rolling soon, here’s when and where shoot will start

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has been wrapping up projects, only to jump right into the next one. Hours after Drishyam 3 release date was revealed as April 2, 2026, by Mohanlal, director Tharun Moorthy and producer Ashiq Usman have confirmed that their next film with the superstar will start on January 23, 2026.

When will Mohanlal-Tharun Moorthy film start

Director Tharun Moorthy, who last helmed the hit film Thudarum with Mohanlal in the lead, posted a photo of a stretch of road with stray dogs on his Instagram stories. He wrote in caption, ‘Find the place, feel the story’ with hashtag #L. Though this looked cryptic, the upcoming film’s producer Ashiq Usman reshared Tharun’s Insta story with additional input ‘rolling from January 23, 2026.

There have been online reports about the Tharun Moorthy-Mohanlal film, L365, starting next week, but there was no official confirmation. Now, the makers have confirmed it, much to the excitement of the fans. Online trackers have been saying that the filming will begin in Thodupuzha, which is incidentally where Mohanlal’s much of Drishyam 3 was also shot.

Malayalam actress Meera Jasmine, who has starred with Mohanlal in popular films in 2000s, too is said to have come on board for the Tharun Moorthy film. Thudarum was among the highest-grossing films of 2025.

L365 is the tentative title for Mohanlal’s upcoming film, which will be helmed by Tharun Moorthy. Earlier, L365 was announced with Austin Dan as the director and Ashiq Usman as the producer. However, the makers then announced Tharun Moorthy coming on board, with no official update on Austin Dan directorial. But the producer had confirmed that the Tharun Moorthy film will have a new story, and not what was planned with Austin.
