All hope is not lost for the makers of Laal Singh Chaddha, the official remake of Tom Hanks' Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump, as the Aamir Khan-led film sees good footfall globally.

According to a news report by Bollywood Hungama, Laal Singh Chaddha has managed to bring in six million USD (47.95 crores INR/ approx) in the first week of its release itself, thus crossing 2022's two of the most successful theatrical releases thus far: Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and director Vivek Agnihotri's controversial social film The Kashmir Files

At the time, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 had raked in 5.88 million USD and The Kashmir Files made 5.7 million USD. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt's smash hit Gangubai Kathiawadi is the highest-grossing Indian film overseas with a collection of 7.47 million USD, as stated in the report by Bollywood Hungama.

Directed by Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni, Laal Singh Chaddha also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Manav Vij in important roles.

AS shared in the media report, these are the top Indian films to do well internationally:

Gangubai Kathiawadi: 7.47 million USD

Laal Singh Chaddha: 6 million USD

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2: 5.88 million USD

The Kashmir Files: 5.7 million USD

Jug Jug Jeeyo: 4.33 million USD

Recently, Liger star Vijay Deverakonda was asked about his views on the boycott call on Laal Suingh Chaddha, and the actor quickly responded by saying that people need to realise that they are not "affecting Aamir Khan" by boycotting his film but also thousand of people who have worked on the project and this film was a source of income for them. Untimately, Vijay Deverakonda said, this boycott is hampering the "economy" and the audience needs to look at the bigger picture.
