Aamir Khan has been an important part of Advait Chandan’s filmmaking journey. But recently, rumours had started to come up that there was a rift between the two, following the lacklustre performance of Laal Singh Chaddha at the box office. Advait recently set the record straight regarding the rumours surrounding the two.

Advait took to his social media handles and shared a photograph of himself and Aamir standing on a beach. All smiles and in matching outfits, the duo are seen holding a surfboard, striking a pose.

“Guys, for all those talking about a fall out between Aamir sir and me, I just want to say that we are like Genie and Aladin, Baloo and Mowgli, Amar and Prem. #HumSaathSaathHain #Bandhan #AamirKhan #LaalSinghChaddha (sic)”.

Aamir had also starred in Advait’s directorial debut, the 2017 film Secret Superstar.

Laal Singh Chaddha marked Advait’s second directorial venture. The film is the Hindi remake of the 1994 Academy Award winning movie, Forrest Gump, which starred Tom Hanks in the titular role. The film was almost two decades in the making, with Aamir having had to go through a number of difficulties to procure the rights of the film from director Robert Zemeckis.

The Hindi film also marked Aamir’s first major silver screen role in almost four years. Unfortunately, the film did not perform well at the box office despite the hype. In addition to Aamir, the film also featured Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in pivotal roles. The latter made his Bollywood debut with the film.

Laal Singh Chaddha is available for streaming on Netflix.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Aamir’s next film, Mogul, a biographical movie based on the life of Gulshan Kumar, had been shelved reportedly due to Laal Singh Chaddha’s poor box office run. The film was to be produced by Bhushan Kumar under the banner of T-Series.
