Laal Singh Chaddha review: Hollywood critics hail Aamir Khan & Co., term the film the 'superior version'

While the same review points out the glaring similarities between the two epic films, especially with respect to the sentimental tonality, the broad-stroked view of a country's evolving social landscape, and most importantly, the power of innocence and good-naturedness that is manifested through the titular characters, it's certainly interesting to note that the Hindi version has impressed critics through its nuanced approach.

Apart from Aamir Khan's performance and director Advait Chandan's deft filmmaking, the review highlights the way the female protagonist is lent a more solid and impactful character arc in Laal Singh Chaddha. Kareena Kapoor, who shares the screen space with Khan for the third time after 3 Idiots and Talash, plays Rupa in the film who happens to be Robin Wright's Jenny's counterpart.
