Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha has been repressed by a lot of chatter ahead of its release, most of it being in the form of unwarranted negativity. The Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha trend on Twitter has emerged repeatedly on the social media platform, revealing that Khan's controversial "intolerant" remark made many years ago is still fresh in public memory.

And yet, despite this looming threat, Laal Singh Chaddha remains a most anticipated one for it comes from a highly trusted source that has previously delivered cult hits like Dangal, 3 Idiots, and many, many more, aside from the fact that the film is the official remake of an Oscar-winning Hollywood classic.

Well to make things all the more special, the first bona fide review of Laal Singh Chaddha is out, and much to the delight of all the fans, the verdict is highly positive!

Yes, as per the review shared by Slashfilm.com, not only is Laal Singh Chaddha a faithful and credible remake of Forrest Gump but also a 'superior version' because of how the makers have developed certain key aspects. While the same review points out the glaring similarities between the two epic films, especially with respect to the sentimental tonality, the broad-stroked view of a country's evolving social landscape, and most importantly, the power of innocence and good-naturedness that is manifested through the titular characters, it's certainly interesting to note that the Hindi version has impressed critics through its nuanced approach.

Apart from Aamir Khan's performance and director Advait Chandan's deft filmmaking, the review highlights the way the female protagonist is lent a more solid and impactful character arc in Laal Singh Chaddha. Kareena Kapoor, who shares the screen space with Khan for the third time after 3 Idiots and Talash, plays Rupa in the film who happens to be Robin Wright's Jenny's counterpart.

In another review posted by Indiewire.com, Atul Kulkar ni's screenplay gets a special mention and credits him for being "meticulous about finding not only the “Indian version” of each “Forrest Gump” beat but infusing it with the same charm that made the 1994 film so indelible". The same review also praises the effective usage of the social backdrop and Satyajit Pande's work as the cinematographer.

Well, the official worldwide release of Laal Singh Chaddha is still a few testing hours away but the highly encouraging reviews will certainly boost the film's reputation. In recent interviews, Aamir Khan has alluded to the tough road that the entire team took to bring the film to life, including an 8-year-long struggle to acquire the remake rights from the makers.

Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Mona Singh, Manav Vij, Naga Chaitanya, and many others. Pritam has composed the film's songs with Tanuj Tiku scoring the background music - Hemanti Sarkar is the film's editor.
