Laapataa Ladies box office collection Day 5 - Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, was released in theatres on March 1. The film has been trying to keep up its pace at the box office since its release. As per the later reports by industry tracker Sacnilk.com, the film earned ₹50 lakh on its fifth day.
The film, which features Pratibha Ratna, Sparsh Shrivastav, Ravi Kishan, and Nitanshi Goel, brought in ₹75 lakh on day one and then took a jump by collecting ₹1.45 crore on day 2. On day 3, the film minted ₹1.7 crore, and ₹50 lakh on day 4. According to the reports, the film made ₹50 lakh on day 5. The total collection of the film now stands at ₹4.90 crore. It is to be noted that the film has received a positive response from the critics.
The film will only be able to keep up with its steady collection at the box office till tomorrow. From Friday, Aajay Devgn, R Madhavan, and Jyotika-starrer Shaitaan will be released in theatres which will take up most of the screens and all of the footfalls. Kiran Rao's film will cross ₹5 crore mark at the box office today and will mostly end its lifetime collection at around ₹5.50 crore. It will be interesting to see how the film will perform on OTT platform after its digital release.
The story of Laapataa Ladies revolves around rural India where two brides (Phool and Pushpa) get swapped in a packed train in the fictional state of Nirmal Pradesh. The groom only realizes after reaching his village that his bride got swapped. The story then continues how he goes on a search for his real wife. Laapataa Ladies is produced by Aamir Khan's Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao's Kindling Productions and is presented by Jio Studios.
The film is based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. The screenplay was penned by Sneha Desai while Divanidhi Sharma wrote the dialogue.
Earlier, while talking about the possibility of submitting the film for the Oscars, Kiran Rao was quoted as saying by Money Control, "Our primary recognition comes from the audience's response at the box office. If the viewers and the nation appreciate our work, that would be the greatest accolade for us."
