Believe it or not, it has been a decade since Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Anushka Sharma's Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. The YRF film is remembered for various reasons, including Parineeti Chopra's acting.
Ladies vs Ricky Bahl was also Ranveer-Anushka's second film after Band Baaja Baaraat. Even though both the actors were sexualised in the movie, which is uncool, there are many other factors that worked in the favour of the film back when it was released.
Here they are...
1. Ranveer Singh's newly gained stardom
Ranveer had just become a star after his debut film, Band Baaja Baarat. He gained way too many fans since the film and thus, it was safe to give him the male lead in the next YRF film. In fact, when you notice closely, Ranveer's shades of carelessness from Band Baaja Baarat play an important role in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl too.
2. Parineeti Chopra's bindaas Dilli girl attitude
Like we mentioned, Parineeti garnered a lot of acclaim for her role in the film. She played a bindaas Dilli girl which many could relate to. It also came close to her real-life personality that many happened to appreciate the character much more than any in the film.
3. The determined Anushka Sharma
Anushka played the role of a determined girl in Band Baaja Baarat and so was she in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl too. In the latter, she even came as a major surprise but determined as ever, nonetheless.
4. The trendy songs
Jigar Da Tukda is a song that has stayed with people even today. Apart from that, the movie had tracks like Thug Le, Jazba, Aadat Se Majboor, all of which were a huge hit a decade ago too.
5. Highlighting women power
Ladies vs Ricky Bahl was among the few movies that focused on women. The basic plot of the film was the three women plotting revenge against Ricky Bahl (Ranveer). They even involved another woman to take revenge.
6. Ranveer-Anushka's chemistry
The YRF film largely banked on Ranveer and Anushka's much-loved chemistry. The two have always been like fire when together and Ladies vs Ricky Bahl is just another example of that. It was this chemistry that helped the film to a great extent too.
