Lahore 1947: Sunny Deol reveals why the film is taking time to release; 'Because Aamir Khan is aiming for...'

After the blockbuster success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol, who is gearing up for the release of Jaat, also has Lahore 1947 in the pipeline. For Lahore 1947, he collaborated with filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, and the film is being produced by Aamir Khan. Fans are on cloud nine for this film, which was supposed to be released on Republic Day weekend in 2025 but got postponed. In a recent interview, Sunny opened up about why the film has taken time in post-production, and the reason has a connection with Aamir.

Sunny Deol on delay of Lahore 1947

During a recent fan interaction at Pinkvilla Masterclass, Sunny Deol was asked to share an update on Lahore 1947 while he is gearing up for the release of Jaat. The actor mentioned that their shooting is done, and the film is currently being edited, which is taking time because Aamir Khan is aiming for perfection. 

Sunny shared, "That film is definitely coming. I started that before and its shooting has also wrapped. I started Jaat after that. But that is taking slightly more time because Aamir Khan is the producer and he's aiming for perfection in editing."

Sunny Deol on collaborating with Rajkumar Santoshi almost after 30 years

Deol has collaborated with one of the ace filmmakers, Rajkumar Santoshi almost 30 years after the 1996 film Ghatak. They have done three films together - Ghayal, Ghatak and Damini.

Speaking about collaborating with Santoshi after such a long time, the Gadar actor said that fans want to see them together because of their previous films, which he assumes everybody loved. 

"It took us long to come back together. In fact we have been working on Lahore 1947 for so many years. Several actors heard the story and many of them were supposed to do it as well but it didn't happen. But Gadar 2 made everything happen," he said.

According to the news, after 70 days of intense work, the shooting of the film Lahore 1947 has been completed. The schedule was completed without any breaks. 

Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, Lahore 1947 is the story of a Muslim family migrating from Lucknow to Lahore during the 1947 partition. During it, they encounter an elderly Hindu woman in their newly allocated haveli, exploring themes of communal harmony and human values.

Apart from Sunny Deol, Lahore 1947 also features Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, and more.
