K. Asif's epic historical drama film features Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, and Durga Khote in the lead. The plot follows a forbidden love affair between the Mughal Prince Salim (Emperor Jahangir) and a dancer Anarkali. Their love story faces the wrath of Emperor Akbar which creates a never-ending rift between the father and son.

Laila Majnu (1976; ZEE5)

When we talk about the star-crossed lovers and a twisted tale of fate and love, Laila Majnu takes the center spot. Rishi Kapoor and Ranjeeta Kaur play the lead. The plot revolves around the titular lovers who fall in love despite the bitter rivalry between their clans and family. This classic Hindi film was adapted into a modern-day story by Imtiaz Ali.

Devdas (1955; ShemarooMe)

The unforgettable tale of Dev and Parvati (Paro) reminds us of the connection between fate and love. When the twist of destiny separates two die-hard lovers. Based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's eponymous novel, this melodrama film revolves around love, class differences, family drama and breakup. The love triangle follows Dilip Kumar in the title role, Suchitra Sen as Parvati "Paro" and Vyjayanthimala. The movie was later remade with Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit in the lead.

Heer Ranjha (1970; ZEE5)

Raaj Kumar and Priya Rajvansh essay the titular roles for this romantic drama film. The star-studded ensemble features Pran, Prithviraj Kapoor, Ajit, Jayant, Sonia Sahni, Kamini Kaushal, Indrani Mukherjee, Achla Sachdev and Tun Tun. The plot revolves around a charismatic young boy who falls for a rival village girl.

Pakeezah (1972; ShemarooMe)

Kamal Amrohi helmed this blockbuster musical romance drama film with Meena Kumari as the titular courtesan. She stars alongside Ashok Kumar and Raaj Kumar. The plot follows a courtesan who falls for a forest ranger but their destiny and arch-rivals stand in the way.
