Actor Vishnu Vishal, who will be seen in the upcoming film Lal Salaam, shared a distress message as his residence in Chennai succumbed to flooding caused by the relentless rains accompanying Cyclone Michaung. He also shared pictures of his inundated house, highlighting the dire situation worsened by power outages and limited phone connectivity.
"Water is entering my house and the level is rising badly in karapakkam I have called for help No electricity no wifi No phone signal Nothing Only on terrace at a particular point i get some signal Lets hope i and so many here get some help I can feel for people all over chennai," he posted on his social media handles.
Vishnu Vishal is not the first actor to share such a SOS message. Earlier, actor Vishal tweeted a video message from his house in Anna Nagar. Despite living in one of the posh localities in Chennai, Vishal's house faced flooding, coupled with power outages. While expressing concerns about the well-being of his aged parents at home, Vishal also raised serious questions directing criticism at the state government.
"Dear Ms Priya Rajan (Mayor of Chennai) and to one & all other officers of Greater Chennai Corporation including the Commissioner. Hope you all are safe & sound with your families & water especially drainage water not entering your houses & most importantly hope you have unconditional supply of food & electricity. Just checking as a Voter coz as Citizens living in the same city as you are, we are not in the same position. I wonder if the entire storm water drain project was meant for Singapore or Chennai?," asked Vishal in a tweet.
The torrential rains have paralyzed Chennai and its neighbouring districts, serving as a vivid recall of the catastrophic 2015 Chennai floods.
