Last Breath is a real-life, high-stakes survival thriller directed by Alex Parkinson. Parkinson and Richard da Costa co-directed the 2019 documentary of the same name, which is fictionalised in the film. Parkinson, Mitchell LaFortune, and David Brooks wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation.
Woody Harrelson, Simu Liu (Arthur the King), Finn Cole, and Cliff Curtis all play significant parts. Following an undersea accident that traps one of their crew members on the ocean floor, the story follows a group of skilled deep-sea divers in a desperate attempt to rescue the victim. The remainder of the crew will need to pull together to try an almost impossible rescue in the face of no communication, low oxygen levels, and deteriorating weather.
American theatres began showing Last Breath on February 28, 2025, thanks to distribution by Entertainment Film Distributors and Focus Features. Critical reception was overwhelmingly favourable, with reviewers praising the film's riveting plot and stellar acting, especially in the terrifying underwater sequences.
The international library of Lionsgate Play, accessible through OTTplay Premium, has been steadily growing, and Last Breath is the latest addition to that list. The platform now features an increasing number of thrillers and survival-based dramas.
Beginning on May 30, as part of Lionsgate Play on OTTplay Premium, Last Breath will be available to stream for Indian fans.
