The Nightingale of India is no more. Lata Mangeshkar passed away today morning at 8:12 am. A few days back she was admitted to the ICU at Breach Candy Hospital due to her deteriorating health. Meanwhile, two-day national mourning is to be observed in memory of the iconic singer and the National flag to fly at half-mast for two days, as a mark of respect.

Along with the actors, the Indian musicians poured in with their tributes to the legend and condolences on the family on social media sites. 

A R Rahman shared an image on Instagram, where he can be seen with Lata Ji. The caption reads, "Love ,respect and prayers (sic)."

The Bollywood singer-composer Vishal wrote a heartfelt note on Twitter that reads, She called me during the last Indian Idol season. She was full of laughter & joy when talking about music. I'm broken at the thought of thst chat with her. So grateful for all that #LataMangeshkar ji taught me and every musician in India, and that I got to thank her in person. (Sic)."

After his heartfelt note, the artist posts another tweet requesting all the journalists to not call and ask him about his feeling about the saddening news. "I feel like the source of our music, the very notes of Music itself have fallen silent," he added.

Bollywood singer Shaan also shared a vintage picture of Lata Ji on Instagram and wrote, "She was Heaven Sent to us so we would know what the Voice of God sounds like .. voice of Maa Saraswati .. Voice of Divinity .. Thanks to my Father, I’ve had the good fortune of getting her affections and blessings through all these years .. #LataJiForever (sic)."

Actor-singer Farhaan Akhtar shared a beautiful picture of the veteran singer on Twitter and called her 'a part of a nations source of collective pride and joy' in the caption.
