The whole nation has been mourning Lata Mangeshkar’s demise. The singer passed away in Mumbai at age 92.  

The Indian cricket team, who are playing the West Indies today also paid tribute to the singer by wearing black armbands with their uniform.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla announced the news, and also added that the national flag will fly at half-mast today at the first ODI against the West Indies. 

Mangeshkar passed away today morning, after being admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital. She had tested positive for COVID-19 and had been diagnosed for pneumonia as well. She died following multi-organ failure, according to Dr. Pratit Samdani who was treating her for the past 28 days. 

Meanwhile, the three-match ODI series takes place starting today at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The first ODI will begin at 1.30pm today. Batsmen Ishan Kishan and Shahrukh Khan were added to the Indian team yesterday, after four players - opener Shikhar Dhawan, fellow batsmen Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer and standby bowler Navdeep Saini- were tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
