This June will mark two years since Kannada actor Chiranjeevi Sarja’s tragic demise, aged only 37. It will also probably be when his last commercial film, Rajamarthanda, hits theatres. Chiru, as the actor was popularly known, had finished principal photography of the film prior to his passing, but had not dubbed for his role. At a recent press briefing about the status of the film, director K Ramnarayabn said that after the actor’s death, when he went to pay his respects, Chiru’s brother and actor Dhruva Sarja’s first question was if the late actor had dubbed for the character before his passing.

According to the filmmaker, when Dhruva was told that Chiru had not dubbed for the film, he promised to do the needful. Dhruva, who was busy with his next, the AP Arjun directed Martin, has now begun dubbing for Rajamarthanda, and the process is expected to be completed shortly. In fact, the makers are hopeful of releasing the film in June, but a date will be announced only after they get clarity on how the fourth wave of the pandemic plays out.

The trailer of the film, which is an action-based commercial entertainer with actors like Deepti Sati, Meghashri, Rasika Raj (formerly Triveni), Sumitra, Shankar Ashwath, Sourav Lokesh, Devaraj, Chikkanna, among others, onboard, was launched by Chiru’s son Raayan Raj Sarja earlier. Ramnarayan also revealed recently that Raayan will be seen in the film, although he did not give specifics about the little one’s presence in Rajamarthanda. Challenging Star Darshan, who was also close to the late actor, has provided a voice over to the film. Produced by Pranav Gowda, N Niveditha and Sivakumar, Rajamarthanda’s story, screenplay and dialogues have been credited to Ramnarayan. The film has music by Arjun Janya, while Dharma Vish has provided the background score.
