Latest Kannada OTT releases (July 28 – August 3) - Here is the list of what you can stream on various digital platforms or watch in theatres this week.

After the absolute drought of the first six months of the year, the Kannada film industry got the fillip it needed with films like Ekka, Junior and Su from So, two of which released on July 18, while the latter hit theatres on July 25 and is continuing to take the box office by storm. Such has been the Su from So effect, combined with the release of the animated film Mahavatar Narasimha, that Bandook, a film that received positive feedback has been struggling for shows.
And this week, a bunch of new Kannada releases are set to join this box office race. As far as the OTT space goes, there have been no official announcements of any Kannada original release, but there’s a dubbed title that will be available.

On OTT
The Telugu original action film starring Nithiin in the lead is headed to OTT within a month of its theatrical outing. Directed by Sreeram Venu, Thammudu explores a brother-sister relationship, with Nithiin, as Jai, coming to the rescue of his long-lost sister Jhansi (Laya).

Kireeti Reddy’s debut vehicle, the Kannada-Telugu bilingual Junior is ending its theatrical run this week and it is speculated that the film will drop on OTT immediately thereafter. Directed by Radhakrishna Reddy of Mayabazar 2016 fame, Junior also stars V Ravichandran, Genelia Deshmukh, Sreeleela, among others, with music by Devi Sri Prasad.

In Theatres
Directed by Sri Raju G, Kothalavadi has been in the news as the debut production of Pushpa Arunkumar, Rocking Star Yash’s mother. Starring Pruthvi Ambaar, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Rajesh Nataranga, Bala Rajwadi, the film is set in a famine stricken village, where the villagers are forced into illegal sand mining.

Priyanka Upendra leads director-writer A Paramesh’s horror flick, which deals with a paranormal researcher’s search for her missing sister at the infamous Kamarottu House. The film also stars Swaminathan Anantharama, Rajini Bharadwaj, Nagendra Urs, Ninasam Ashwath, among others.

Director Likith Kumar’s suspense thriller Vritta centres on Siddharth, a quiet, withdrawn man whose life spirals out of control after one impulsive decision. What begins as a simple night drive, unravels into a haunting journey through isolation and fractured realities. Starring Maahir Mohiuddin, Harini Sundarrajan, Chaithra Achar, among others.
