Latest Kannada OTT releases (June 16 – June 22) to watch on Prime Video, JioHotstar, Netflix, Sony LIV, theatres and more

The big theatrical release this week is, without an iota of doubt, Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par. The film is a remake of a Spanish movie, Campeone, which has a Hollywood version as well, featuring Woody Harrelson in the lead (Champions). Whether or not Aamir can pull crowds to theatres with this underdog tale remains to be seen. The sports comedy drama is releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu only. So, where does that leave Kannada audiences this week?

Well, there are quite a few theatrical films, mostly led by newcomers, which have had little to no promotions in the run-up to the release. On OTT, as of now, there is one confirmed Kannada original, which is a remake, though, and at least two dubbed titles – one of which had a decent theatrical outing and the other, the sophomore season of a successful thriller series.

Here’s a look at the Kannada original and dubbed films and series releasing in the week of June 16 to June 22, 2025

Karki

Karki is the Kannada adaptation of Pa.Ranjith’s 2018 film, Pariyerum Perumal, directed by Tamil filmmaker Pavithran, in what is his Sandalwood debut. Whatsapp Love fame Jai Prakash Reddy and Meenakshi Dinesh led the film, which deals with caste oppression and related violence. The film is headed to OTT 9 months after its theatrical run.

Prince and Family

Debutant director Binto Stephen’s film has Dileep in the lead, in a tale about a middle-aged single man, and his attempts to find a suitable life partner through a match-making site, which throws his life into disarray when he is matched with a social media influencer. The film also stars Siddique, Bindu Panicker, Dhyan Sreenivasan, among others. The Malayalam original film will be available with Kannada audio option.

Kerala Crime Files Season 2

The second season of Ahammed Khabeer’s Malayalam original police procedural web series, Kerala Crime Files Season 2 brings Aju Varghese, Lal, Navas Vallikkunu and Sanju Sanichen back as cops, while Kannur Squad’s Arjun Radhakrishnan joins the gang as SI Noble. This time around, the show will focus on the search for CPO Ambili Raju, played by Indrans. The series, which will have Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi audio options, will have 6 episodes, all of which will drop on the same day.

Maatonda Heluve

Mayur Kadi plays RJ Mayur, a radio jockey from Hubballi-Dharwad, whose show `Patch Up Stories with Mayur`, aims to help couples resolve their differences. This love guru, though, remains single in the hope of finding true love. When he then meets Khushi (Apoorva Aradhya), a free-spirited traveller from Mysuru, something changes.
