Latest Kannada OTT releases (June 2 – June 8) to watch on Prime Video, JioHotstar, Netflix, Sony LIV, theatres and more

A year ago, it was only in August that the Kannada film industry found a ray of hope with Duniya Vijay’s Bheema, which was followed up by Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi and a few more titles in the next few months. The first 5 months of 2025 have been nothing but disastrous for the industry, but stakeholders are not ready to lose hope and remain firm in their belief that audiences have never given up on good content. This week, there are two new releases in theatres – Maadeva and Neethi – while Sanju Weds Geetha 2 is back with new content. The OTT presentation, as of now, is the Tamil hit Tourist Family, which is streaming with Kannada audio too. There have been no official announcements of Kannada originals, but a few are expected in the coming days. We will update audiences here, as and when that happens.

Here's a look at the Kannada original and dubbed films releasing on OTT and theatres in the week of June 2 to June 8.

Tourist Family

Abishan Jeevinth’s directorial debut stars Sasikumar and Simran in the lead in a tale about a Tamil family from Sri Lanka, who ‘migrate’ to India in the hope of finding a better future for their kids, in the wake of the economic crisis in their home country. The film was a theatrical success and has now made its way to OTT. It is streaming with Kannada audio as well.

Maadeva

Vinnod Prabhakar’s latest has him playing a hangman and revolves around the trials and tribulations he faces in life. The Fighter actor is paired with Roberrt co-star Sonal Monteiro, who was last seen in Banaras. The film, according to Vinnod, is a departure from his routine action entertainers, and focuses on him as a performer.

Neethi

Debutant director Rajagopal presents an edge-of-the-seat suspense thriller featuring Dia and Ayyana Mane fame Kushee Ravi, Sampath Maithreya, Praveen Atharva, among others. The film revolves around a woman trapped in an abusive relationship, who seeks to end her life. When she encounters a thief at home, she sees it as the perfect opportunity to put her plan in action. But things don't go as planned.

Sanju Weds Geetha 2

Director Nagashekar is re-releasing his film, Sanju Weds Geetha 2, which has Srinagara Kitty, Rachita Ram in the lead, with Ragini Dwivedi in a pivotal role. The film had released in January this year, but received overwhelmingly negative reviews, following which the filmmaker withdrew it from theatres after only 3 days. Back then, he’d explained that the problem arose from the edit that made it to theatres – a version that was missing about 20-25 minutes of footage, most of which were Ragini’s scenes. Nagashekar has stitched it all together again and is bringing the film back to theatres.
