Popular Kannada rapper and music composer Chandan Shetty, who had a role in last year’s Vidyarthi Vidyarthiniyare, will make his debut as leading man this week. Indie filmmaker Abhilash Shetty presents the second film in his Koli trilogy, while Tamil star Ajith’s last release heads to OTT. There’s limited choice as far as new titles go at the box office or on OTT for Kannada audiences this week. But then, Kannada films heading to OTT don’t get arrival announcements and it’s only when they drop on the platform that one gets to know, like, for instance, Nagabhushana and Daali Dhananjaya’s Vidyapati, which became available on May 3.
Abhilash Shetty, who made the film Koli Taal, presents his second film in the ‘Koli’ trilogy, Naale Rajaa Koli Majaa. While Koli Taal was about a young man visiting his grandparents in the village and the elderly couple preparing to make a special chicken curry for the grandson, only to notice that the rooster they’d caught for it has gone missing.
This time around, the story takes place in a similar village, but on Gandhi Jayanti, a holiday on which a young girl graves chicken curry. But then, it’s a day on which no meat is sold, so she heads to her grandparents, in the hope that they can fulfil her wish. But that too proves easier said than done. The film stars Prabhakar Kunder (Ulidavaru Kandanthe, Mugulu Nage) Radha Ramachandra and Samrudhi Kundapura in the lead.
