It’s time for the first of the three star-led Kannada films, The Devil, in theatres. Challenging Star Darshan’s film, which releases in his absence, is, obviously the big-ticket movie of the week. On OTT, there is one original title and a dubbed one too, with the latter, perhaps, the more exciting of the two.
A psychological drama revolving around a man battling intense paranoid schizophrenia – that describes director Raaj Vijay’s Green, which was meant to be on OTT a couple of weeks ago. The release date of the film, featuring Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Balaji Manohar, RJ Vikki and others, was pushed ahead and it will begin streaming this week. The film follows Mayanna, played by Gopalkrishna Deshpande, who battles severe psychological trauma and paranoid schizophrenia and whose inner conflicts materialise as terrifying monsters in a forest.

Dulquer Salmaan, Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri Borse headline the period drama set in the 50s about Tamil cinema’s first horror movie and how it is affected after the leading lady’s tragical death. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the film, also starring, Rana Daggubati, Gayathrie Shankar, Nizhalgal Ravi, released in theatres on November 13 and opened to middling reviews. Dulquer and Bhagyashri, though, received immense praise for their performances.

Challenging Star Darshan’s first film in two years, The Devil hits theatres in the actor’s absence. Directed by Prakash Veer, whose last film was Tarak with Darshan, The Devil has been described as a pucca mass entertainer, in which the actor, reportedly, has multiple shades. The ensemble cast includes Mahesh Manjrekar, Achyuth Kumar, Rachana Rai, Sharmiela Mandre, Chandu B Gowda, Vinay Gowda, Roger Narayan, Shobraj, among others. The film’s release was advanced by a day in keeping with the demand from fans.
