It's a week of plenty being the norm for Kannada audiences. There are multiple Kannada original films and a series releasing this week, and there are dubbed titles too on OTT. In theatres also there's a lot of variety, including an investigative thriller, gangster tale and a period love story.

Debutant director Ganesh Hegde’s film festival darling film, which also got him a state award way back in 2020, is finally headed to OTT. The film, starring Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Aman S Karkera, Nidhi Hegde, among others, follows a 10-year old boy and his struggles to come to terms with his family’s shift from a village to the city in search of greener pastures.

Suhan Prasad, better known as the producer of Raj B Shetty’s claim to fame, Ondu Motteya Kathe, turns director for the latest Kannada web series. Produced by Tharun Sudhir, the show is said to be the Kannada remake of Vilangu (also Janaawar: The Beast Within), and stars Vijay Raghavendra in the lead. The 7-episode show revolves around the investigation into a series of murders in north Karnataka.

Director Ramenahalli Jagannatha’s sophomore project, Theertharoopa Thandeyavarige, follows a travel vlogger’s search for his father, who’d abandoned the family years ago, while also mending his relationship with his mother. The film stars Nihar Mukesh, Sithara, Ravindra Vijay, among others.

The Malayalam original action comedy follows three brothers in Fort Kochi, led by Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, and Ishan Shoukath, who establish an underground, WWE-inspired wrestling club. Directed by Adhvaith Nayar, the film received mixed reviews and is now headed to OTT. It will be available with Kannada audio.

The Tamil original film starring GV Prakash and Anaswara Rajan is a feel-good movie about a puppy that’s a lucky charm for a family and what happens when it then goes missing. Motta Rajendran, Kovai Sarala, Daniel Anne Pope, Subbu Panchu, among others are on the cast. Lucky will stream with Kannada audio.

Vijay Raghavendra reprises his role as SI Seetharam from Seetharam Benoy Case No. 18 in director Deviprasad Shetty’s sequel Second Case of Seetharam. This time around, Seetharam is on the hunt of a serial killer in the small town under his jurisdiction. The film also stars Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Sagar Puranik, Malathesh HV, among others.
