The first festival of the year Sankranti/Pongal is generally one that is all about big-ticket releases from Tamil and Telugu at the box office in Karnataka. There are smaller films that have risked the clash in the past, but have not had the greatest run in theatres. This year, Kiccha Sudeep’s nephew Sanchith Sanjeev’s debut film, Mango Pachcha, was meant to be the Kannada film for Sankranti, but then decided against that, what with Tamil and Telugu having 4 major releases each.
On OTT, there was meant to be more for Kannada audiences to look forward to, but one film that was announced, Bank of Bhagyalakshmi, failed to drop on the platform, leaving only one original title in the fray. The dubbed titles may also be interesting.

Debutant director Mahesh Ravikumar’s crime drama, starring Balaji Manohar, Shwetha Prasad, Partha, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, among others, comes to OTT nearly 6 months after its theatrical outing. The film has two distinct narrative tracks, revolving around a series of mysterious murders and an orphanage, but then, the two meet. The connection between the crimes and the orphanage is central to the plot.
