Latest Kannada web series releasing on OTT in 2023 – Voot Select, Talkies, Amazon Prime Video and others

Kannada web series are still a rareity on major streaming platforms. Newer players are trying to bridge this with original content, but they have a long way to go as far as getting audiences intrigued enough to subscribe to Kannada only platforms. Talkies, which earlier focused only on Tulu content and has been actively adding Kannada titles too to its portfolio and Voot Select have been at the forefront of bringing Kannada web shows to audiences. But there are still many who put their content on YouTube for better visibility. Here’s a look at some major titles that are now streaming

Love You Abhi

This murder mystery, with a love story at its crux has Vikram Ravichandran, Aditi Prabhudeva, P Ravishankar, Srinath, Vinaya Prasad and Sundar Raj, among others, on its cast.

Janatha Colony

This 8-episode series follows four sets of tenants at Janatha Colony, their relationship dynamics and more. The series, which has a breezy, fun-filled narrative, stars Aneesh Poojary, Shobraj Pavoor, Bhoomi Shetty, Mythrii Iyer, Yamuna Srinidhi, among others.

Hate U Romeo

Among the earliest Kannada web series to have been made, this seven-episode revenge comedy was made by Shri Mutthu Cine Services in association with Sakkath Studio. The show has Aravinnd Iyer in the lead, along with Disha Madan. Almost 90% of the show was shot in Vietnam.

By Mistake

The story of two colleagues and flatmates whose life is upended after one night of drunken passion. Poornachandra Mysore and Siri Ravikumar play the leads in this romantic comedy. This one is also a collaboration between Shri Mutthu Cine Services and Sakkath Studio.

Honeymoon

Nagabhushana and Sanjana Anand are paired in this romantic comedy about an unlikely pair who get married and then ‘discover’ each other during their honeymoon. A Telugu dubbed version was released on aha Telugu in 2020 and it was a good two years later that the original Kannada show finally got an outing. Honeymoon was produced by Shri Mutthu Cine Services in association with Sakkath Studio.

Humble Politiciann Nograj

The 10-part comedy sees Danish Sait return as the infamous politician Nograj, who is now an MLA and eyeing the chief minister’s post. The show revolves around ‘resort politics’ for coalition formations. Prakash Belawadi, Vijay Chendoor and Disha Madan have pivotal roles in this Saad Khan directorial.

Hakuna Matata

Vijay Raghavendra and Ranjani Raghavan are special investigation bureau officers investigating the circumstances surrounding a murder in which the victim’s wife is serving a life sentence. The nine-episode crime thriller marked Vijay’s web series debut.
