Vaa Vaathiyaar – Theatres (December 12)
Vaa Vaathiyaar is a Tamil action-comedy film starring Karthi in the lead role. The film is written and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy known for his black comedy dramas. Vaa Vaathiyaar also features actors Krithi Shetty, Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, and others. The film revolves around a hardcore MGR fan whose grandson grows up to be a fun-loving cop.
Kaantha – Netflix (December 12)
Kaantha is a Tamil period drama starring Dulquer Salmaan, Bhagyashri Borse, Samuthirani in the lead roles. The film is set in the 1950s Madras Presidency and revolves around the ego clash between a star actor and the director he was introduced by. Kaantha also stars Rana Daggubati, Ravindra Vijay, Gayathrie Shankar, Vayapuri, Nizhalgal Ravi, and others in supporting roles.
Padayappa – Theatres (December 12)
Padayappa is a 1999 film written and directed by KS Ravikumar. As a birthday special, the film is being re-released on the occasion of Rajinikanth's 75th birthday. Headlined by the superstar, the film also stars Sivaji Ganesan, Ramya Krishnan, late Soundarya, Lakshmi, Radha Ravi, Nassar, Abbas, Sithara and Preetha among others. The film revolves around the hero and his family who are brought to ruins by their relative, Neelambari who as rejected by Padaiyappa citing her extroverted character.
Lockdown – Theatres (December 12)
Lockdown is a Tamil film based on a true story. It is set against the backdrop of Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown imposed. Directed by AR Jeeva, the film stars Anupama Parameswaran in the lead role. It also features Charlie, Nirosha, Priya Venkat, Livingston, Indhumathi, Rajkumar, Shamji, Lollu Sabha Maran, Vinayak Raj, Vidhu, Abhirami, Ravathi, Sanjivie, Priya Ganesh, Asha and others.
