Latest Tamil OTT releases (June 2-June 8) to watch on Prime Video, JioHotstar, Netflix, Sony LIV, theatres and more

Tamil cinema has completed five months of 2025 and, we have seen a fair share of successes and failures. This week, the most exciting and awaited Tamil film Thug Life is set to drop in theatres. Starring Kamal Haasan and directed by Mani Ratnam, the film is having huge expectations. However, that being said, there are some interesting releases this week that you can stream on OTT and watch in theatres. Here is a list of this week’s releases.

Tourist Family – JioHotstar (June 2)

Starring Sasikumar, Simran and others, the film is directed by debutant Abishan Jeevinth. The comedy family drama is about a Sri Lankan refugee family who come to Tamil Nadu to lead better lives. The ensemble star cast includes MS Bhaskar, Ilango Kumaravel, Ramesh Thilak, Bagavathi Perumal, Mithun Jai Shankar, Kamalesh Jagan and others. Produced by Million Dollar Studios, it has music by Sean Roldan. The film went on to become Sasikumar’s highest grosser till date beating Sundara Pandian and Kutti Pulli.

Thug Life – Theatres (June 5)

Thug Life is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated Tamil films this year. It is touted to be a gangster actioner and marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after their iconic film Nayakan in 1987. The film also features Simbu, Trisha, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi and others. AR Rahman has scored the music for the film.

Lal Salaam – SunNXT/ OTTplay Premium (June 6)

Lal Salaam, the 2024 Tamil film starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles is a sports action drama which is directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth. The film features Rajinikanth making an extended cameo appearance in the film. Lal Salaam story follows two friends divided by circumstances and ideology, set against the backdrop of a tense socio-political landscape. Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, KS Ravikumar and Thambi Ramaiah among others. AR Rahman has scored the music for the film backed by Lyca Productions.

Heart Beat S2 – JioHotstar (ongoing)

Heart Beat is a Tamil medical drama series, with the first season already having about 100 episodes. Set within a multi-specialty hospital, the series explores the personal and professional lives of the doctors, nurses and others who work there. Written and directed by Deepak Sundarrajan, the series features Anumol, Deepa Balu, Tourist Family fame Yogalakshmi, and others. Four new episodes will be dropping every week.

Madras Matinee – Theatres (June 6)

Madras Matinee is written and directed by Karthikeyan Mani and stars Sathyaraj, Kaali Venkat, Roshini Haripriyan and others. The film revolves around an aged sci-fi writer who is given a challenge to write about a common man, by his caretaker. As the writers takes up the challenge, and writes the story of an auto driver, a series of dramatic events unfold.
