Latest Tamil OTT releases (October 26 – November 1) to watch on Prime Video, JioHotstar, Netflix, Sony LIV, theatres and more

In the upcoming week, some of the major titles are set to drop on the OTT space. These titles will be available in Tamil, with a couple of Tamil films also gearing up to hit theatres. Here’s what to watch this week.

Aaryan – Theatres (October 31)

Aaryan is an upcoming crime thriller directed by debutant Praveen K and produced by actor-producer Vishnu Vishal. Vishnu Vishal stars as a determined police officer commissioned to unravel a chilling series of murders done by a psychopath. The cast includes Shraddha Srinath, and Selvaraghavan in pivotal roles.

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra – JioHotstar (October 31)

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is a Malayalam superhero fantasy, which will finally be available on OTT and in Tamil as well. Written and directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan, it stars Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in the lead roles. The blockbuster film follows Chandra, a mysterious woman who arrives in Karnataka and get involved in an organ-trafficking syndicate. Blending the Kerala folklore and superhero genre, Lokah became the highest grossing Malayalam film this year. Sandy Master, Arun Kurian and Chandu Salim Kumar, important roles, with Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan making cameo appearances. The film will have sequel with Tovino playing the lead.

Kantara Chapter 1 – Prime Video (October 30)

Starring Rishab Shetty, who also directed the film, Kantara: Chapter 1 is prequel to Kantara. The film delves into the roots of Bhuta Kola festival and talks about how the Kadamba dynasty rulers tried to oppress the forest folks who are safeguarding their land and worshipping the local deities. Actors Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, Gulshan Devaiah, are also part of the film.

Aan Paavam Pollathathu – Theatres (October 31)

Aan Paavam Pollathathu is an upcoming Tamil romantic family drama that talks through the conflicts of a married couple. The film features Rio Raj and Malavika Manoj in the lead role and directed by Kalaiyarasan Thangavel. Aan Paavam Pollathathu also features RJ Vigneshkanth, Sheela, Jenson Dhivakar as supporting cast.

Idli Kadai – Netflix (October 29)

Idli Kadai is a Tamil drama written and directed by Dhanush, who also stars as Murugan, a young man torn between tradition and ambition. The story follows Murugan’s journey from his family’s humble idli shop to the world of hotel management, and followed by his homecoming to protect his family’s legacy. The film features Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Shalini Pandey, Parthiban, and Samuthirakani in key roles. With music by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Kiran Koushik, and editing by Prasanna GK, Idli Kadai is a blend of emotion, culture, identity, family values, and self-discovery.

Bigg Boss Tamil 9 – JioHotstar (ongoing)

The Vijay Sethupathi-hosted reality show is soon to get a wildcard entry, and the new housemate might drop into the house anytime soon. With teams being formed, battles being picked and sides taken, there is no dearth of controversies and arguments inside the house. The weekend episode to stream is expected to introduce the new contestant.
