The movie follows Clyde Shelton, who is grieving the tragic loss of his family to a brutal crime, and now is consumed by a burning desire for vengeance. He seeks retribution not only against the individuals who directly committed the heinous act but also against the justice system itself, especially targeting the police officers and attorney, Nick Rice.

Clyde believes that these authorities have failed to deliver true justice for his family, allowing the perpetrators to escape with inadequate punishment, leaving him to take the law into his own hands and do the necessary.

Back in 2009, Law Abiding Citizen-director, F. Gary Gray talked about his experience working on his film, his experience with Gerard Butler, and many more things with Collider. For the unversed, the director had a long gap before this action thriller. Hence, he was pretty excited to talk about his return with the movie.

When F. Gary Gray was asked what was so special about Law Abiding Citizen, he stated that the material was unique and was a lot of fun. The concept of a guy taking an entire city hostage from prison was a great storyline for him.
