Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has done a terrific job guarding the sanctity of his upcoming movie Leo, which stars Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. The production team took a lot of measures to safeguard the movie from unwanted leaks that could spoil the trill for overeager fans before the movie's theatrical release.

However, it seems, that filmmakers can only do so much to protect today's digital age. Despite their best efforts, a crucial spoiler about the movie has leaked online.

A picture purportedly taken on the sets of Leo has surfaced online. In that picture, Gautham Menon could be seen in a cop costume and he's flanked by Babu Antony and his son Alex Antony. This is a new plot detail of Leo, which has added to the excitement of the fans. Until now, details about Gautham's character in Leo had remained shrouded in mystery.

Gautham Menon and cops

Gautham Menon is no stranger to portraying police officers on screen. As a matter of fact, he has developed a knack for essaying cop roles. In his acting career, he has essayed a variety of cop roles: good, bad and everything in between. For example, in Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, he plays a corrupt cop while masking his real intentions behind the facade of honesty. In Viduthalai Part 1, he played a morally ambiguous, no-nonsense cop, who is focused solely on his duty.

If he is playing a cop in Leo, he's likely to infuse his performance with a lot of freshness. "I accepted this movie only because of Lokesh. He asked me for Vikram, but I couldn't do it. He told me, 'sir, you're the first person I am calling you right after signing this movie. You are playing a very important character in this movie," Gautham revealed earlier.

Leo is due in cinemas on October 19.
