Filmmaker Gautham Menon has a thriving acting career. He's not just one of the most sought-after character actors in Tamil cinema, but he's also an in-demand actor in the Malayalam film industry. While directors taking acting jobs in the films of their peers is not something unheard of in Tamil cinema, Gautham's case is an exception. Usually, filmmakers, whose best days are behind them, get involved in acting full-time. But, Gautham is still an in-demand filmmaker, who commands a significant market share. Yet, his willingness to submit to the vision of his peers has caught everyone by surprise.

While Gautham doesn't pay attention to what others feel about his choices, he revealed a profound reason behind his sustaining interest in acting. "It's a humbling experience," Gautham said recently in an interview discussing the subject.

"At first, I agreed to act in movies mainly for the money and alleviated my financial troubles. But, when I kept getting the offers, I thought not to turn them down. I wanted to experience that," he added.

He even noted that he seemingly has no limitations or hesitations when it comes to acting in front of the camera.

"Recently in a film while filming a fight scene I was made to sleep on the floor for three hours. In that action scene, I was asked to fall into the black dust-covered ground. Even if I breathe normally, I would inhale so much dust. I was fully covered in black dust," he revealed.

Even though he didn't name the film, it was clear that he was referring to his character in Leo.

Gautham is playing a key role in the movie , which stars Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay in the lead. Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film is fast nearing completion.

Meanwhile, Gautham is also busy working on the post-production of his long-delayed movie Dhruva Natchathiram. According to reports, the filmmakers have plans to release in cinemas next month
