SonyLIV is all set to present Leonardo on April 9, ahead of its UK and US release. Created by Frank Spotnitz and Steve Thompson, Leonardo is a series which focuses on the time of Leonardo da Vinci (thus the name of the show).
The plot of this historical drama show, with splatters of crime, traces the life of iconic artist and engineer, Leonardo Da Vinci. Actor Aidan Turner plays the character of the Italian polymoth who has gone down in history as a genius, never to be forgotten.
This riveting story of forbidden love, a murder accusation and Leonardo Da Vinci’s intellect includes eight episodes, each consisting a different time stamp. Leonardo features the titular character challenging hierarchies with his revolutionary ideas and solving the mysteries of the world, while bringing some facts about the life and work of Da Vinci that are not known to many.
The series also stars Matilda De Angelis and Freddie Highmore.
Discussing his character, Aidan Turner revealed that it was intimidating for him to step into the shoes of the legendary Italian mastermind. “To play a character like that, a historical figure, an artist, it can be intimidating and quite terrifying. But I think Frank Spotnitz’s scripts focus a lot on who’s the man behind the genius and that’s what motivates him as an artist and as a person," the actor said while describing his experience.
Turner views Da Vinci as an introvert who did not have traditional schooling.
For the uninformed, actor Aidan Turner has been a part of popular films and shows like The Hobbit and Poldark.
Leonardo premieres on SonyLIV on April 9, before its release in the US or UK.
