The year 2022 has been a watershed period for 'pan-India' cinema and in this vein comes Puri Jagannadh's much-anticipated Liger. The film introduces the Telugu heartthrob Vijay Deverakonda to the Hindi audience and thanks to the pre-release hype surrounding the film the prospects do look quite encouraging for the team, as far as the box office performance is concerned
The trade pundits have already pulled up their socks to reveal exciting results ahead of the film's grand release on August 25: Liger releases as a bilingual in Telugu and Hindi and will be dubbed and released in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada on the same day.
As per the latest trade reports, the opening day advance booking numbers of Liger point at a bona fide box office hit on the cards. As of 11:32 pm, August 24, the Telugu version of the film has already grossed Rs. 9.86 crores with respect to the advance bookings while the Hindi version has made a much slower start. It must be noted that the Hindi version of Liger releases on August 26 across the country but the Telugu version gets a headstart with an August 25 release. Liger (Hindi) has collected Rs. 59 Lakhs so far and the figure also includes the premiere shows.
But one can expect the advance bookings to improve considerably for Liger (Hindi) following the audience and critical reviews on August 25. With Vijay Deverakonda being an established star in Telugu cinema, the film is likely outperform the rest of the versions but the presence of Ananya Panday will certainly make the Hindi version a major contributor to the overall box office performance.
As per the Day 2 advance booking reports, Liger (Telugu) has grossed over Rs. 1.2 crores (as of 11:47 pm, August 24) with the Hindi release inching towards the Rs. 75 lakhs mark.
The Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions of Liger are yet to show encouraging signs but the reviews could flip the trend within no time. More reports to follow soon.
