Vijay Deverakonda is on an all-time high in his career while aiming to expand his horizons beyond Telugu cinema. While he was in the news last weeek for JGM a.k.a Jana Gana Mana, a pan-Indian film he has signed with Puri Jagannadh, he is also keenly awaiting the release of his first collaboration with the director, Liger, on August 25 in cinemas across the globe in five languages.

Directed by Puri Jagannadh, Liger stars Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Pandey, Ramya Krishna, Ronit Roy and others in key roles and will also feature a special appearance by boxing legend Mike Tyson. The boxing saga had wrapped its shoot earlier this year and the post-production formalities of the project are progressing at a brisk pace. Liger marks Mike Tyson's debut in Indian cinema as well. All sequences starring Mike Tyson in the film were shot in the US with the lead actors Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey also taking part in the schedule.

The latest update surrounding the film confirms us that Mike Tyson has completed dubbing for his portions. “Thank you very much for being kind to me. I’m very grateful,” said Mike Tyson in a video. Mike Tyson's role will be one of Liger's major highlights and it'll be a feast to watch him along with Vijay Deverakonda, say the makers. Nandamuri Balakrishna will dub for Mike Tyson's part in the Telugu version, the team had announced a few months ago.

Liger is jointly produced by director Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta under Puri Connects and Dharma Productions. The film was shot on a massive scale over a couple of years and it's the longest that Puri Jagannadh has taken to complete a film (major reason being the pandemic). Vishu Reddy, Ali, Makarand Desh Pandey and Getup Srinu also essay crucial roles in the film.

Vishnu Sarma cranks the camera for the film while Thailand-based Kecha is the stunt director. Junaid Siddiqui is the editor and Jonny Shaik Basha heads the art direction team.
