The latest fourth episode of ‘Like Flowers in Sand’ premiered on Netflix with new plot twists and a cliffhanger storyline. Kim Jin-woo, who serves as the director, brings the stellar cast with Jang Dong-yoon and Yoon Jong-seok in leading roles. The sports drama also starred Kim Bo-ra, Lee Jae-joon, and others in promising roles.

Like Flowers in Sand as the name suggests delves into the prominence of Ssireum traditional sports (Korean wrestling) where the wrestlers battle each other on sand for the coveted championship game titles.

Story

The fourth episode's narrative revolves around Baek-do and his chaotic life when he fights his moral dilemma to decide new job position. Baek-do rewinds the incident where Oh Yoo-Kyung (later revealed as Do-sik) gives him a violent hit when he unintentionally calls out her ‘romantic advancements,’ saying that it’s not right since she is married. Oh Yoo-kyung tries to convince him for the position and emphasizes on his love for the sport. The later happenings chronicle the restless match scheduled between Baek-do and Jin-su. However, it is abruptly halted when Baek-do faces a serious charge and becomes the prime suspect in Chil Seong mysterious death case.

The entire town is in splits as they decide who deserves to coach their national-level team. Hyun Ja and Jin Suk, who are the mothers of Baek Du and Jin Su, also get into a fight because of their children. With police investigation and sports challenges on the way, the upcoming episode will unfold baffling truths.

Review

Set in Geosan’s ssireum city, a countryside with the small town people living as one community – The setting will make you lost in the Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and Welcome to Samdalri vibes.

It’s been four episodes already but there isn’t much development in the romantic angle between the leads. However, you might like the flashback sequences at the beginning of each episode that bring the cuddles of childhood friendship. The episode had a nail-biting Ssireum match between the two contenders for new coaches but its abrupt ending with another twist kind of put off the excitement building with the match.

‘Like Flowers in Sand’ is one of those twisted dramas where you can’t anticipate the endings and upcoming episodes as each one unfolds new hidden truths and secrets. Thus, heading towards the unique plotline dramas that remain in the memories for a long time.

Overall, the episode was packed with entertainment and mysterious turns.

The episode was packed with many plot twists to keep the viewers on their toes. The intricate blend of criminal investigation and sports drama gives it an edge over the usual rom-com dramas.
