Netflix is dropping a refreshing romantic Kdrama, titled Like Flowers in Sand, on December 20 this year. Right in time for Christmas, this romantic cocktail will be served twice a week on the Tudum platform. It dropped its trailer on December 11, offering a sneak peek into the upcoming Korean feel-good comedy series.
Directed by Kim Jin Woo and scripted by Won Yon Jung, the show features Jang Dong Yoon as the protagonist Kim Baek Doo, Lee Joo Myoung as childhood love cum management leader Oh Yoo Kyung, Yun Jong Seok as Min Hyun Wook, Kim Bo Ra as Joo Mi Ran, Lee Jae Joon as Kwak Jin Soo, and Lee Joo Seung as Jo Seok Hee.
The trailer of Like Flowers in Sand traces the story of ssireum prodigy Kim Baek Doo, who is a cherished member of the Geosan County Office Ssireum Team. However, due to a self-imposed ultimatum, that he announces at the beginning of the trailer, Baek Doo must work hard to win the Jangsa title, or else retire from the traditional Korean wrestling sport.
As the youngest scion of a prestigious ssireum family, Baek Doo suffers from the heaviness and insecurity of his yesteryear fame as ssireum prodigy, despite lots of practice. When he hits the nadir of his career, and the team is about to be disbanded, his childhood love Oh Yoo Kyung enters into the picture.
As the leader of the management of Baek Doo’s team, Oh Yoo Kyung tightens her shoelaces before getting down to the task of getting the team, especially Kim Baek Doo back on track. As revealed in the trailer by our hero, when he stands face to face with Yoo Kyung on the pier, “It’s because of you. I’m back because of you.”
A story full of romance, humor, perseverance, and inspiration, Like Flowers in Sand is perfect for date nights and ice-cream tub nights with binge-buddies.
