The Glory's Song Hye-kyo, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Katrina Kaif and 8 Indian actresses who have received ageist remarks

There have been a lot of comments about South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo's appearance in her latest series, The Glory. Known for her beauty and grace, many K-drama fans have been saying that Hye-kyo is suddenly looking much older in the series. In a recent interview with Elle Korea, Hye-kyo addressed this, and said that her character Moon Dong-eun in The Glory has led a difficult life and has been through a lot, so it is only natural that she looks the way she does. The actress also added that she herself has aged, so it should not come as a surprise that she looks older.

Unfortunately, this is not a stray incident. Like Hye-kyo, several Indian actors have also been trolled for looking old.

Kareen Kapoor Khan
In 2019, Kareena Kapoor Khan was trolled for a sun-kissed, close-up, no-makeup selfie from a holiday in Tuscany. Many started commenting that "she has grown old", and that "she looks aged and lifeless". Some even referred to her as "aunty". 

Malaika Arora
It all began in 2019 when Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor confirmed that they were in a relationship. Many people commented on their age gap, calling Malaika "buddhi", "auntie" and a "cradle snatcher". Malaika even spoke about this on her web show, Moving in with Malaika. 

Katrina Kaif
In January 2022, Katrina Kaif shared a sweet picture with husband Vicky Kaushal to mark one month since they got married. The couple look extremely happy while embracing in the picture, but many commented that Katrina looked old in the no-makeup pic, with comments like, "Buddi with Baccha", "Katrina buddhi ho gayi hai", and "Kat u looking like an old woman". 

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
The former Miss World was trolled for looking old in the comments section of the pictures that she uploaded from the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. People left comments such as "Agaya bhayya agaya....budhapa agaya", to "Aap Aged lag rhi ho jawani gyi", and "I know she is getting old, but suddenly her face changed. Idk if it's due to ageing or not. How can it change with a blink? Ageing is spontaneous, not drastic."

Soha Ali Khan
On her London holiday in 2019, Soha Ali Khan was trolled for looking "old" and "too thin" in pictures that she uploaded along with her daughter, Inaaya. While some called her an "Old woman", others said that her mother, Sharmila Tagore, looks better than her.

Divya Kumar Khosla
The latest to be trolled for her looks is filmmaker and actor Divya Khosla Kumar, who is currently shooting for Yaariyan 2. An official account of a paparazzo uploaded a video of Divya in a pink dress and headband from the set of the film, and some people have been commenting that she isn't dressing for her age. One user commented, "Divya thinks she is 18 years old.dil toh bachaa nahin,bada ho Gaya."

Kavita Kaushik
Actress and Bigg Boss 14 contestant Kavita Kaushik was at the receiving end of ageist comments after she uploaded some pictures of herself on her social media pages. One Twitter user commented "Budhi ghodi laal lagaam". Responding to this, Kavita posted, "Bhaiya maine toh koi laal lagaam nahi lagaai, make up bhi nahi kiya, thoda lipbalm hai bass, aur budha toh aapka baap bhi hoga, MA bhi hogi toh kya kare ? Iss desh mei umar badhna paap hai kya? Ye taaleem doge iss dp ki bacchi ko ki 'beta 40 ke baad tera jeena bekar hai'?"

Asha Negi
In 2020, the Pavitra Rishta actress shared a picture of herself in an old house. In the caption, she wrote that the picture was from her 30th birthday in 2019. To this, one woman posted, "Matlab buddhi hogai shaadi karlo yaar tum se diwaar jawan hey". Asha took on her troll with another post, in which she said, "When it’s a case of cyber bullying but the humour is too on point!! Dost humour ke 100 points magar is soch ka kya karein".

Mandira Bedi
Mandira Bedi has been trolled several times for uploading pictures of herself in bikinis. In 2018, during a holiday in Goa, Mandira uploaded some pictures of herself in the pool. People started commenting on her figure and telling her that she should not upload such vulgar pictures. Some even called her an "Old age woman". 

Hina Khan
Kasauti Zindagi Kay actor and Bigg Boss contestant Hina Khan found herself being trolled for one of her airport looks. Hina was wearing a pink outfit, sans any makeup. This resulted in people commenting that she looked "old", "dark" and a "chudail".
