We had told you that Lingusamy and Ram Pothineni were collaborating on the Telugu-Tamil bilingual film, The Warrior. The filmmaker, who is busy with the post-production work of the same, revisited the popular romantic drama, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, which featured Simbu in the lead; and raved about it, on Twitter. Interestingly, Simbu has sung in The Warrior. Composed by Devi Sri Prasad, the Bullet song, is a power-packed number, and will be a treat to listen to.

This song is expected to be one of the many highlights of The Warriorr. An action entertainer set in Kurnool, the film marks the debut of Ram Pothineni in Tamil. Shot extensively in Hyderabad and Chennai, The Warriorr also features Krithi Shetty and Akshara Gowda as the female leads, while Aadhi Pinisetty plays the antagonist.

While Sujith Vaasudev (of Drishyam and Lucifer fame) is in charge of the cinematography, Anbariv will serve as the action choreographers. The Warriorr is produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi under his Srinivasaa Silver Screens banner and is slated to be released on July 14.

Not long ago, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya director Gautham Menon had opened up on the sequel in an Instagram live chat. Answering a fan’s question about the sequel, he said, "VTV 2 will happen if Simbu says yes. A lot of thought and writing has gone into the film. It’s a project I want to make!"

In a statement, Gautham said, “Although the idea of a second part has been on the cards for some time now, I went through a tough time in giving a form to that concept. Of course, the process continues, but the sequel will happen for sure.”

Gautham had said in the past that the sequel will take off eight years from where Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya ended, and trace the events in its protagonist Karthik’s life.

“This will be a story of four friends who meet and decide to go to the US for their fifth friend’s wedding. It’s not a Hangover-type movie but it’ll be light-hearted. I’m waiting for a nod from Simbu. If he says let’s do it, I’m ready to go to shoot immediately,” Gautham said.
