5 Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan's closest onscreen moments

Ahead of the highly anticipated release of Sitaare Zameen Par on June 20, 2025, Aamir Khan Productions sent fans into a frenzy by posting an exclusive behind-the-scenes video of Shah Rukh Khan at the set. Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have never appeared in a full-length film together, although rumours of a possible cooperation between the two superstars persist.

A few films have featured the two actors together, albeit not in the same scene. These cameos, special appearances, or documentaries have been released over the years.

Pehla Nasha (1993) - YouTube

In the now-iconic blink-and-miss scene from Ashutosh Gowariker's directorial debut, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Saif Ali Khan all make cameos—playing themselves. Even though it's the only film that shows the Khans "in one frame", their encounters are brief and silent. Regardless, it was a memorable trivia moment for Bollywood aficionados.

Luck by Chance (2009) - Prime Video and Netflix 

Zoya Akhtar's insider view of Bollywood featured cameos by Aamir and Shah Rukh, who portrayed themselves at various industry events. Their moments are distinct, which adds to the "together but not quite" dynamic that characterises their onscreen trip, even if they are both part of the film's world.

Bombay Talkies (2013) - Netflix and JioHotstar

Bombay Talkies was a four-part anthology that had several musical tributes and appearances to commemorate one hundred years of Indian film. The final montage song Apna Bombay Talkies included dozens of Bollywood stars, but Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan were the only ones to appear in it. Even though they weren't in the same scene, the two did appear in the same film.

Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) - Netflix

Shah Rukh Khan's brief appearance in the Hindi version of Forrest Gump, headed by Aamir Khan, made headlines. He played himself in a flashback scene where a young Laal meets SRK in Delhi before beginning his acting career. Although the two stars never appeared onscreen together, the cameo effectively utilised Shah Rukh's fame. According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan reportedly consented to the cameo after Aamir personally approached him about it.

The Romantics (2023) - Netflix

Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were among the Bollywood heavyweights interviewed exclusively for this Netflix documentary that traced the history of Yash Raj Films. With the nonfiction title The Romantics in mind, the two discussed the impact of Yash Chopra and the solitary brilliance of Aditya Chopra. But they only show up in separate parts of the interviews, not in a joint one.
