Sai Pallavi shot to fame with her very first film, Premam, starring Nivin Pauly and directed by Alphonse Puthren. The actress then went on to act in films across genres and languages, proving her mettle. As her debut film Premam has completed 10 years, let’s revisit five films of Sai Pallavi on OTTplay Premium, where she impressed us with her incredible performances.
Sai Pallavi plays the lively Bhanumathi in this film, which marked her Telugu debut. Varun Tej plays NRI youth Varun, who meets and falls for the village belle Bhanumathi. But their differing backgrounds lead to cultural clash, driving the young couple apart. However, destiny had other plans. Sekhar Kammula has penned the script and directed this film, which is much-loved by audiences.
Another Telugu romantic drama, Love Story paired Sai Pallavi opposite Naga Chaitanya. Sekhar Kammula is once again back in the director's chair for this film, which follows a young couple who start a Zumba centre in the city. The film, which delves into the inter-caste relationship, deserves to be watched on OTTplay Premium. The scintillating songs and dance moves are a highlight of this film.
After the stupendous success of Premam, Sai Pallavi was back in Malayalam for Kali. She played Anjali, who gets married to the hot-headed Siddharth (Dulquer Salmaan). Much of the film follows the events after the couple embark on a road trip but run into trouble. Sameer Thahir has directed this film, which was dubbed in Telugu as Hey Pillagada.
Sai Pallavi plays Nithya, who has been admitted to a mental asylum situated at a remote location. The film follows the events as Dr Kannan Nair visits the centre, and asks unsettling questions to its head. Fahadh Faasil plays the lead role in this film, which also has Sai Pallavi delivering a nuanced performance. The Telugu dubbed version of Athiran is titled Anukoni Athidhi.
Gautham Ramachandran’s film revolves around an ordinary school teacher, named Gargi. Her routine life is upended when her father is arrested for assaulting a young girl. Gargi then fights for his justice, even when the evidence is against him. Sai Pallavi as the titular character is the driving force of this film, which should be on your watchlist.
