This political thriller drama highlights the dark history of India when the exodus of Kashmiri Hindu Pandits from Kashmir in the early 1990s were brutally tortured and thrown out of the state. The movie presents the narrative with a fictional story of a Pandits who is forced to migrate due to extreme violence, murders, conspiracies, and connection with a massive genocide.

This thriller drama explores the life of the second Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and the conspiracies around his sudden unexplained death. The Tashkent Files is not made on a factual account, rather the story is fictionalised, speculative investigation into the events of 1966. The movie's plot is driven by journalist Raagini Phule, who receives an anonymous tip about the suspicious circumstances of Shastri's death.
