Days after Pahalgham attack, India and Pakistan woke up to the news of Operation Sindoor. Kashmir, that has seen a lot through the years, has also been explored in movies and TV series over the years. Right from the Exodus to Uri, all of it is documented through movies. While we see 'yeh haseen vaadiyan' on one side, there's another where bloodshed is just as real. Here are some projects that tried to balance out both the sides while taking us back in time.
Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike left many numb and screaming, "How's The Josh? High sir!," for days at an end. Based on the real events that took place in Uri before the Pahalgham attacks, the film documented the events following the Uri attacks in India back in 2016.
Based on the same topic, Avrodh is a more fictionalized version of Uri attacks. It is a TV series featuring Amit Sadh in the lead role. While the first season was based on Uri attacks, the second was on demonetisation in India.
Based on Exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir, The Kashmir Files sailed through the Box Office in times when no Bollywood movie worked. Even if the film is tagged as controversial, The Kashmir Files claims to have brought forth stories as narrated by survivors of the events from 1990.
A simple village girl, Roja (Madhoo), finds herself in turmoil when her husband Rishi (Arvind Swamy) gets kidnapped while their love blossoms in the fields of Kashmir. The story touches upon their reunion after a lot of hurdles.
Another powerful story from Jammu and Kashmir comes in the form of Shahid Kapoor's Haider. He seeks closure for his father's disappearance, only to find hidden skeletons in the family. This movie blends state politics with his own "family" and their love for power. The movie blends in revenge, Hamlet style.
Adapted from Fauda, Tanaav is a series that perfectly summarizes the tense situation around PoK. The fictionalized story revolves around an officer Kabir Farooqui who has no straight methods when it comes to dealing with terrorists. He has his own system and the team he leads either follows or backs out (they tend to follow along with his crazy most of the time).
