Scam 1992's OTT release opened up a pandora's box when it came to unfolding financial scams on OTT. We have witnessed various shows touch upon such scams in one way or another. The latest is one being made on Nirav Modi. Although there are shows on the defaulter that already exist, the one announced promises to focus on everything around Modi. Of course, nothing has topped Pratik Gandhi's Scam 1992 yet, but there are a few worth checking out.
Pratik Gandhi became an overnight star after working in Hansal Mehta's Scam 1992. With a dialogue like 'risk hai toh ishq hai' and a story as powerful as Harshad Mehta's, this is one of the evergreen series when it comes to financial scams.
Scam got a sequel and this time, Abdul Karim Telgi's stamp paper scam was explored. Telgi's story from a normal fruit-seller alongside the railway station to believing that he can make it big through mass producing stamp papers, the story was just as strong as the original.
Agreed that Huma Qureshi's show Maharani's prime focus in on how Lalu Prasad Yadav's wife Rabri Devi entered politics, but Maharani also has an aspect of financial scam. It touches upon the Fodder scam, for which Yadav was convicted and Rabri Devi had to take over.
Emraan Hashmi's film Why Cheat India? is loosely based on the Vyapam (Vyavasayik Pariksha Mandal) scam. In this scam, the final results were rigged through seating arrangements, among other ways. The scam, while unearthed in the 90s, was believed to be active among many centres even till date.
Ajay Devgn's movie Raid is loosely based on the biggest IT raid on Sardar Inder Singh. The same is tagged as the longest raid in India, for it went on for 18 long hours and required a team of 45 people to count the cash discovered during the raid. Now, we wait for Raid 2 as well.
