Kunchacko Boban has been a favourite actor among Malayalam cinema lovers since his debut as a lead hero in Aniyathipravu, along with Shalini. After starring in several romantic films, the actor transitioned into more nuanced roles in the last decade. Whether it is Palunni from Elsamma Enna Aankutty or Rajeev from Manju Warrier-starrer How Old Are You, Kunchacko Boban was able to fully justify his casting in these Malayalam films from the 2010s. Lal Jose’s Elsamma Enna Aankutty had Kunchacko Boban in the role of milkman Sankaranunni, who is fondly called as Palunni by everyone. The film narrates the tale of Elsamma (Ann Augustine), who is a strong woman and shoulders the responsibility of her entire family of her mother and three sisters. Indrajith Sukumaran and Nedumudi Venu are also part of this film.
Kunchacko Boban starred in the lead role and also produced this heartwarming film, which marked the return of production company Udaya Pictures in Malayalam cinema, after three decades. The film narrates the tale of a young boy (Ayyapa) from a small town who dreams of travelling in a flight. Kunchacko plays Kochavva, who believes in Paulo Coelho's famous quote from The Alchemist.
Kunchacko Boban teamed up with Biju Menon for this fun film, directed by Sugeeth. He is seen as a bus conductor Iravi Kuttan Pillai, while Biju Menon plays KSRTC bus driver Suku. They both work on the KSRTC bus to the picturesque Gavi, and the film humorously portrays their journey and interactions with the village folks in the remote area.
How Old Are you marked Manju Warrier’s return to Malayalam cinema after more than a decade. Kunchacko plays Rajeev, the husband of Niranjana (Manju Warrier), a UD clerk, who rediscovers her true self after her husband and daughter leave for Ireland. This inspirational film is directed by directed by Rosshan Andrrews, based on a script by Bobby Sanjay.
Considered as the first spoof film from Malayalam, Chirakodinja Kinavukal narrates the tale of Ambujakshan. Ambujakshan meets a producer to narrate the story of his novel, titled ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’. For those of you who are unaware, Sreenivasan narrates the story of Chirakodinja Kinavukal in Mammootty-starrer Azhakiya Ravanan. Kunchacko Boban stars in the film with Sreenivasan and Rima Kallingal.
