In the first-ever original Kannada series commissioned by Zee 5, Ayyana Mane , a newly-wed bride realizes the likelihood of he becoming 1 of 6 deaths that have been predicted to happen at her husband’s house. 4 down and 2 more to go, following the death of her father-in-law the day she stepped into the household, she has to find out if the family deity has cursed them, or if something more sinister is at play.
The show, which launched with Kannada and Hindi audio was well received by audiences, prompting the makers to dub it in other languages too. The Tamil version drops on May 9. The directorial debut of SD Aravinda, the grandson of veteran actor Narasimharaju, Last Bus follows 6 passengers of the last bus from Theerthahalli. Along the way, they end up in a haunted mansion in the forest, where they experience supernatural events. While these were then revealed to be pranks by a TV channel as part of a reality show, things take a drastic turn when crew members end up dead. What’s lurking out there?
The remake of the Tamil film Maya, Aake, directed by KM Chaitanya and featuring Sharmiela Mandre and Chiranjeevi Sarja in the lead, follows two tracks – one about an artist illustrating a book about a woman who was driven to madness and another, about a single mother who’s feeling haunted. Also starring Achyuth Kumar, Prakash Belawadi and Balaji Manohar, among others, the film delivers chills and thrills and was lauded for being a smart adaptation of the original subject.
Krishna Ajai Rao, who’d established himself as a romantic hero, took a giant step away from his comfort zone with Krishna Talkies, a film that revolved around mysterious deaths of those bearing ticket number 13 at a local movie theatre. Is it the work of a serial killer or something paranormal at play. This is what Ajai Rao’s character has to get to the bottom of before there’s another victim.
Director Girish G’s film follows five friends from Bengaluru who head out for the weekend for a quick getaway. Along the way, they tell each other horror stories and then find themselves at an eerie guesthouse. The film marked the debut of Priyanka Mohan, and featured Thandav Ram, Karthik Rao, Somanna, among others, on the cast.
Lohith H’s film had Priyanka Upendra in the lead as Priya a pregnant widow, who moves with her older child to Goa. Traumatized by the loss of a parent, the daughter seeks refuge in the company of a doll that she even talks to. Turns out, the doll’s possessed by an evil spirit. Can Priya keep her daughter safe? Yuvina Parthiva played the young daughter, while Madhusudan, Aishwarya Shindogi, Vatsala Mohan, among others, were also a part of the film.
