Remarkably, only two bowlers in international cricket history have dismissed Kohli for a duck twice, and both are top-class pacers: England’s James Anderson and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood.

James Anderson has dismissed Kohli for a duck twice, both times in Test matches, employing his trademark swing bowling to perfection.

2014 Manchester Test, 4th Test, first Innings: Kohli faced Anderson’s sharp outswinger early on, caught by Alastair Cook at slip for 0 (2 balls). The delivery moved away late, and the young Kohli could not negate that.

2021 Nottingham Test, 1st Test, first Innings: Kohli faced his second duck against Anderson when the pace bowler bowled a perfectly held length delivery, dismissed caught behind by Jos Buttler for 0 (1 ball). Kohli thought the ball would come in and poked at it.

Josh Hazlewood has recently dismissed Kohli for a duck twice, marking a new challenge for the former Indian captain.

2024 ICC T20 World Cup, Gros Islet, Super Eights: In the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, which India went on to win, Kohli attempted a pull shot but was caught at midwicket for 0 (5 balls). In the Super Eights in Gros Islet, Kohli could not judge the pace and bounce of the pitch and was eventually caught.

2025 Perth 1st ODI: Kohli, who was making a return to international cricket after retiring from Tests and T20Is, was caught at backward point by Cooper Connolly, out for 0 (8 balls). Hazlewood was relentless with his line and length, and Kohli could not get the shot going at the newly made Optus Stadium in Perth.
