Oruthee director-scriptwriter duo VK Prakash and S Suresh Babu’s latest thriller Live finally has a release date. The movie, which was supposed to hit theatres on May 12, was pushed due to the lack of screen, owing to 2018’s stupendous run at the box office, to May 26.

Live, which has Mamta Mohandas, Soubin Shahir, Priya Prakash Varrier and Shine Tom Chacko as part of the cast, is touted to be a social thriller that focuses on the role that media plays in the lives of common people and how the media tactics have far-reaching implications.

The film has Mamta essaying the role of a medical professional, while Soubin plays an entrepreneur. Priya Prakash Varrier, who was last seen in Ranjith Sankar’s campus romance 4 Years, will be playing a college student in the upcoming movie too, which has Shine Tom Chacko as its antagonist. The latter plays the role of a journalist in the movie.

In an interview with OTTplay, VK Prakash said that the film looks at the impact that social media as well as media has on the lives of people on a daily basis. “We aren’t trying to point fingers at anyone or blaming people for the world we live in right now, but the film will tackle several relevant issues including invasion of privacy and stalking,” says the director, who had previously helmed the OTT series Half Pants Full Pants last year.

Though the film is told from the perspective of a woman, Live has an ensemble cast and all characters are equally important, says VK Prakash. The movie, which is set to hit theatres this Friday, will clash with Anna Ben and Arjun Ashokan’s fun comedy entertainer titled Thrishanku, which is helmed by debutant Achyuth Vinayak and is produced by Matchbox Pictures that had backed Andhadhun and Monica, O My Darling.
