The television actor Ali Merchant became the latest celebrity to have a 'dhamakedaar' entry in the show, Lock Upp, hosted by Kangana Ranaut. His entry seems to create a lot of controversies since he was married to Sara Khan. The makers had earlier shared a promo video, introducing him as the 14th contestant on the show. They had captioned the post and promoted it saying that now, Sara Khan will have to face her past in the present.

Sara Khan and Ali Merchant had met on Bigg Boss 4 and fell in love. They got married soon after but their relationship lasted only for two months.

Recently, Ali Merchant opened up about entering the show and his relationship with his ex-wife. He told IANS that he is very happy to be a part of Lock Upp and has been waiting for a show like this for a long time. He also recalled about his time on the show Bigg Boss. He said, "When I was in 'Big Boss', I was there for 10 or 11 days as a guest. And I was very young at that time. Then there was a very emotionally disturbing element. But now I have a different perspective to life." He added that he has more clarity in life now and he has learned a lot of things in the past 12 years. He now holds a different perspective towards life.

Despite facing several ups and downs in his life, Ali Merchant said he does find entering the show and facing the contestants, a challenge. He said after he appeared on Bigg Boss, he was offered many projects unlike before when he had no work. He used to work at a factory and would travel for five hours to work. "Later I started doing music videos and became known in the industry. Now, I am among successful DJs. I believe in doing everything with perfection. Same I will do inside the show," he said.

The actor will also be facing his ex-wife on the show. Calling his marriage the biggest mistake of his life, he said, "It is a human tendency that if everything falls at its place nobody is going to question but if you take any wrong step, people start questioning your decision. Same happened with me at that time. When two people are in love, the next step obviously is marriage." He added that he was young at the time and was excited about getting married on a national television show. But once they got out of the show, they realised that they cannot make it work. He admitted that his relationship with Sara has affected his career but he has now moved on and wouldn't like to say anything bad about her.

He called Lock Upp, a path to redemption as he has accepted his sins and takes responsibility for everything he has done in his life. He also added that he would ensure that his past does not affect his game, even if he has been tasked to do something along with Sara.

The show Lock Upp can be streamed on MX Player and AltBalaji.
