Munawar Faruqui was one of the most underrated stand-up comedians who had a loyal fan following. However, a certain comment during one of his jokes changed his life around and now, he has to struggle to even get shows.
Munawar was born in Gujarat. Due to the impact of the 2002 Gujarat riots, in 2007, the comedian and his family shifted to Mumbai. Now he lives in Dongri.
Munawar's love for rap songs
The comedian also loved to wrap and has produced a few songs in the last two years titled Khwahish, Kalandar and Aazmaish. The tracks are available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Tunes and more.
The incident that brought him to Lock Upp
Munawar was arrested in Madhya Pradesh over charges of making jokes against Hindu deities and Amit Shah. While some of his loyal fans and a lot of comedy content viewers felt that his statement was taken into the wrong context, some of the people felt that he needs to be charged for his unethical gig.
How his career came to a stop
While after getting out of jail, he tried to revive as a standup comedian, however, the constant threats of venue vandalism forced him to shut shop. He had to cancel various shows. The comedian donated the money from those shows to the late Puneeth Rajkumar's foundation.
First time under surveillance
Since he is not directly related to the glamour industry, Munawar never did acting, modelling or the like. Not only is he new to that, but it is also his first time being under constant surveillance.
First time with Kangana
It is his first time to be working with the Bollywood actress on whom he had earlier cracked a few jokes in his stand-ups.
