Nisha Rawal was evicted from Lock Upp on the grounds of not being bada** enough. She was in the bottom two with Payal Rohatgi, on the day when the viewers demanded Payal to be evicted for her Islamophobic remarks against Zeeshan Khan. Nisha, who had stormed to give Payal a piece of her mind earlier in the day, agrees that the behaviour was uncalled for and Payal should have been punished for it, just like the viewers demanded.
While talking to OTTplay, she accepted so and said, “Yes, my feelings are in sync with what the people said. I feel she should have been immediately thrown out of the show. They shouldn’t even have waited for evictions.”
Stating that the celebrities are in the Entertainment business, she added, “The stuff she said is really harmful to anyone and our society. Passing such a remark on a platform like that, when you know we have progressed so much as a nation – for us to be free, after that you come to a point where you want to be safe from the chargesheet and move on in the game that you cross religious, politics or personal boundaries. There’s a limit to everyone. This is an Entertainment business. We are not a political drama. It’s a reality show. We have limitations and should have that.”
Nisha also clearly stated where Payal crossed the line for her and most. “This is truly not being badass at all. It’s being extremely bad. She should have been held for the stuff she spoke. Abusing someone is one thing and spitting on someone while talking about their religion is another matter altogether. It was completely unacceptable for me. I’m just happy to be out of the toxic environment. She should have definitely gone because there is a limit to being bad,” the actress said.
We asked Nisha, “Do you believe that she is being a reflection of the society? You also faced this – when you revealed your secret, inmates misused it, the media made headlines and public read it. So, do you believe that she is just a reflection of how the society functions?”
To that, she answered, “She’s not playing a fictional character on the show. It’s a reality show. If you choose to play a vamp, it is your choice but it is probably because you have nothing else to contribute to the game. A person can be fake for 10 days or two weeks but they can’t be fake for five weeks. This is truly who she is. You cannot speak anything just because you got angry. This is what you would be doing in life too then. This is not how it works. Somewhere, you have to take responsibility. Somewhere, you would mean the things you say. She apologizes after crossing a line but you should not talk like that in the first place. You’re not a baby, right?”
Nisha also recalled how Payal has been in trouble for similar incidents in the past. She said, “Payal has come a long way and has been in trouble for speaking on stuff. Then she came on a platform where there are 200 million views already. You cannot make such an error, right? She emphasized on it – spoke about it 20 times. You hurt that person and the sentiments of everyone watching the show. So, it’s not fair.”
When we informed Nisha that Payal has accepted that she wants to fight with everyone in the jail in order to get to the grand finale, she responded by stating, “I did not follow that episode but it’s no rocket science. Everyone knew what she’s doing and she just accepted it. There’s nothing else left to say because she revealed that herself.”
In the latest episode of Lock Upp, Kangana praised Payal Rohatgi for being unpredictable and redeeming herself. The host did mention that the actress did some unforgivable things that the show does not promote but maintained that since she is a fit personality for Lock Upp, Payal gets to stay on the show for longer.
