While history has seen enough and more evidences of actors and writers shifting gears into full time politicians, some of them include MG Ramachandran, M Karunanidhi, J Jayalalitha to latest being Kamal Haasan. Udhayanidhi Stalin, and Vijay.
With social media buzzing with photos of celebrities casting their votes, actor Ajith Kumar who is currently working in Vidaa Muyachi, was spotted as early as 6.40 am to cast his vote in the Thiruvanmiyur booth in Chennai. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth, who once flirted with the idea of entering politics, cast his vote at Stella Maris college earlier in the day before 8 am. Clad in white shirt and pants, the actor cast his vote amid much fanfare. Actor Vijay flew down from Russia where he is shooting for GOAT, and cast his vote in the noon hours. His polling booth thronged with crown and photojournalists to capture the actor's voting procedure.
Actor Dhanush, who arrived in his car to the polling booth, cast his vote in St Francis Xavier School, TTK road in Chennai, while Sivakarthikeyan along with his wife Arthi, director Vetrimaaran and others stood in the respective polling booth lines before casting their votes. Vijay Sethupathi exercised his democratic right and cast his vote for the Lok Sabha elections and even interacted with the public nearby. Many celebrities took to their social media handles after casting their votes, urging the public to do the same.
Tamil film industry has been in close quarters with politics for decades now. Meanwhile, Vijay has also expressed his interest in politics and floated his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
