Lokah Chapter 2, the sequel to Kalyani Priyadarshan’s blockbuster Lokah, stars actor Tovino Thomas in the lead. Fans have been speculating on which characters are returning and the plot develops in the sequel, even though the makers have been tight-lipped about the project's development. Now, Lokah star Kalyani Priyadarshan spills some beans, confirming that she is indeed part of Tovino Thomas’ Lokah 2 and also dropped an update on when the shoot is expected to begin.
Is Kalyani part of Lokah Chapter 2
The 2025 Malayalam film Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra starred Kalyani Priyadarshan as Chandra, aka Kalliyankattu Neeli. During a recent event at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Kalyani confirmed that she would be back in the Lokah universe. Not just that, she also gave an update that the makers of Lokah 2 are still in the process of writing, and the film is likely to start shooting in September 2026.
"Hopefully, we should start shooting by September. Naan second part ilum irakean. So just wait for it,” the Malayalam actress said in a mix of Tamil and English.
What is Lokah Chapter 2 about
Helmed by Dominic Arun, the second installment of Lokah franchise would narrate the story of Micheal, the chathan (a sorcerer). Tovino Thomas, who made a cameo appearance in Kalyani’s Lokah, would be back as the mischievous micheal. In the second post-end credits of Lokah, it was revealed that Micheal has 359 siblings who look like him after it was pointed out that his lookalike was found in a cave.
A teaser of Lokah 2 was also released by the makers last year, with the franchise producer Dulquer Salmaan’s Charlie joining Tovino’s Michael. DQ had also made a cameo in Lokah, which stormed its way in the box office to become the biggest success of Malayalam cinema. Also starring Naslen as Sunny, the film is a modern reimaging of Kerala folklore character Kalliyankattu Neeli. The film is co-written by actress Santhy Balachandran and director Dominic Arun.
