Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra box office collection day 33: As Kalyani Priyadarshan’s superhero film continued its record-breaking run at the theatres, trade experts have been predicting that Lokah could well be the first Rs 300 crore Malayalam film. But the Dominic Arun directorial has been seeing a downward trend, especially on weekdays, with earnings dropping to less than Rs 0.85 crore on its day 33 at the box office, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This casts a shadow over the Rs 300-crore dream of the hugely popular film, which has also announced Lokah Chapter 2 with Tovino Thomas in the lead.

The 2025 Malayalam film Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra became the all-time highest-grossing Malayalam film when it beat the lifetime collection of Empuraan, which was Rs 266.81 crore. But the Dulquer Salmaan-backed film, which is in its fifth week at the box office, has seen a significant drop in earnings. After a record-breaking run, Lokah’s worldwide collections stand at Rs 288.55 crore.
The fifth Monday recorded Rs 0.85 crore earnings for the film, which also stars Naslen. The fifth weekend saw Dominic Arun's directorial making Rs 1.6 crore and Rs 2 crore on Saturday and Sunday. Given that bigger films from other industries are releasing this week, the future does not look very promising for Lokah, co-written by Santhy Balachandran.
Lokah vs Kantara Chapter 1
The upcoming big releases are Kannada film Kantara Chapter 1, which will release on October 2, 2025, with paid premieres on the day before. Actor-director Rishab Shetty’s film is not making as much waves in Kerala, compared to the rest of the states. But if the Kannada film opens to positive word of mouth, it could command more screens in Kerala too.
There is no big Malayalam film scheduled for release in the coming week, though Shane Nigam-led Balti is running in theatres. Balti, which released in Tamil and Malayalam, made Rs 4.14 crore in worldwide collections.
