Lokah: Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer emerges as the highest grossing South female-led film at worldwide box office

Kalyani Priyadarshan is receiving a tonne of appreciation for her role in Lokah Chapter 1-Chandra, the most recent Malayalam film that prevailed the Onam winner on the sixth day of its theatrical debut. Additionally, it has earned the record of highest-grossing South film starring a female lead.

Lokah all set to cross Rs 100 crore mark

On its sixth day at the box office, the fantasy thriller brought in Rs 7.35 crore, and it is close to reaching Rs 100 crore. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Lokah has garnered a total of over Rs 93 crore worldwide. However, given the enormous demand in theatres across the globe, it is anticipated to quickly surpass the Rs 100 crore milestone. In the meantime, it became the highest-grossing South cinema starring a female star, followed by Keerthy Suresh-starrer Mahanati and Anushka Shetty's Rudramadevi.

Thanks to the incredible reception in all languages, Dominic Arun's directorial has been doing well from Day 1 of its release on August 28. Actress Santhy Balachandran co-wrote Lokah, which also stars Tamil actor Sandy, Naslen, Arun Kurian, and Chandu Salimkumar in important parts. On the fifth day of its theatrical release, the other major release, Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, which starred Fahadh Faasil and Kalyani Priyadarshan, brought in Rs 1.02 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk. Maine Pyar Kiya, the year's fourth Onam release, comes in last on the list with worldwide earnings of just Rs 0.31 crore on Day 5. The winner of this holiday season is Lokah, which exceeded everyone's expectations with its performances, technical side and intriguing plot that revives a few popular characters in Malayalam folklore.
